KOP-WATCH:

Beware: Undercover Pigs in Zuccotti Park!

[November 17, 2011] Since the eviction of the Occupy Wall Street protest camp on Monday,
November 15, police have been attempting to make it as uncomfortable as possible for
people to use Zuccotti Park as an organizing center. One new NYPD is the use of undercover
police to make arrests inside the park itself.

At 11:10 on Thursday, after protesters returned to Zuccotti Park from an Occupy the
Stock Exchange action that drew about 2000 people, pig commanders told people that
the park was off limits, which was not only illegal an inaccurate but a bit of a
dare to the large and psyched up group of demonstrators. The masses poured into the
park, moving barricades aside as they entered, and there were several attempts to
remove some of the excessive number of steel cop barricades, which provoked a
confrontation with the white-shirted police brass.
At 11:10, this photographer noticed a commotion
behind him, and saw the masked man depicted
in this photograph having his face smashed into
the concrete by two burly, dressed down men
who did not look entirely out of place in the park,
but who were plainclothes police officers. You
can see the arm of one of them--he is wearing a
leather motorcycle jacket with some white stripes
on it. Whether the cops thought the man was
involved in one of the tug of wars over barricades
or whether they just busted him for covering his face will remain to be seen.
