INVESTIGATE 9/11!!
The NYC 911 Ballot initiative Campaign

In January of 2002, Fire Engineering Magazine stated that there was good reason to believe that the "official investigation" into the events of September 11, 2001, was a "half-baked farce that may have been commandeered by political forces whose primary interests …lie far ahead of full disclosure." In other words, the last thing officialdom wanted was a real investigation of what happened on that day in September 2001. As a result, so much remains unexplained, like what was our military doing that day?

Lorie Van Auken, widow of Kenneth Van Auken, and one of the "Jersey Girls," puts it this way: "The almost complete lack of military response to the September 11 attack has never been adequately explained. In fact, in their book Without Precedent, 9/11 Commission Chair Thomas Kean and Vice-Chair Lee Hamilton, say that the discrepancies that were presented to them by the U.S. military have never been resolved. Thomas Kean has been quoted as saying, ‘We to this day don't know why NORAD [the North American Aerospace Command] told us what they told us…it was just so far from the truth…It's one of those loose ends that never got tied.'

Van Auken also says: "Six years post 9/11, and two wars later, it is time for the U.S. military's response, and all of the unanswered questions relating the to attacks of September 11, 2001, to be fully investigated using ALL of the available evidence. We need to explore why established protocols and procedures were not followed on 9/11, and if we are still at risk. With an event of this magnitude, there should be no loose ends…The murder of almost 3000 people, destruction of millions of dollars worth of property, and the subsequent environmental degradation impacting tens of thousands of New York City residents and workers remains largely unexplained, and consequently, improperly remedied. An objective, independent, and accountable scientific investigation of 9/11 has yet to be conducted."

The NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign is committed to such a thorough, transparent, and non-partisan examination of the facts surrounding the 9/11 crimes, to be accomplished through the creation of an independent, investigative body, a Citizen's Commission, with subpoena power. The Commission, to be staffed by competent, professional individuals of the highest caliber, will be mandated to search for the truth, wherever the search leads, without prejudice or preconception, and to recommend the best course, as they see it, to achieve justice for all those involved in, and affected by, the terror attacks.

The Campaign for the 9/11 Ballot Initiative is an ad-hoc group of concerned New York City residents who have come together to realize our goal of a new investigation of the crimes of 9/11. The Campaign neither endorses nor espouses any theories or conclusions other than those that will grow out of a responsible, thoughtful, judicious, and comprehensive examination of the facts. They welcome and encourage the support of all truth and justice seeking people here and around the world.

The Campaign is sponsoring a November 2008 General Election ballot initiative which will allow NYC voters to mandate, through public referendum, directly and democratically, the formation of a new Citizen's Commission to investigate 9/11. Armed with the power to bring indictments, the Citizen's Commission would re-examine the facts and the hundreds of unanswered questions surrounding the terror attacks and the aftermath.

They do so because they firmly believe that the victims of the attacks have yet to receive proper justice and there exists a moral obligation to take the necessary steps to obtain that justice, and to do so through a thorough examination of the true facts and circumstances. The first fact is that no authorized, sanctioned body at any level of government has properly investigated the crimes of 9/11 and that such an oblivious injustice calls out for redress. The Campaign believes that Congress and our politicians have forsaken us and that now is the time for all true patriots to unite-in-action in order to bring about a true investigation of 9/11.

New York State Home Rule Law # 37 allows for the citizens of NYC, through a ballot referendum, to vote directly on whether or not a new investigation will take place. In doing so, it allows for the creation of a Citizen's Commission to truly investigate the crimes of 9/11. The Campaign has initiated a petition drive in order to secure the required number of signatures of registered voters necessary to get the referendum on the November 2008 New York City ballot .
